In this special episode of Selfdom, we’re sharing all the details for an upcoming community volunteering event with Thread Together.
Following our conversation with CEO Anthony, we’re inviting our community to get involved in a hands-on way and be part of addressing clothing waste and clothing insecurity in Australia. Around 30% of new clothing ends up in landfill, and this event is an opportunity to help redirect brand new, unsold clothing to people who need it most.
I’ll also be joined by my husband Tom, who will be DJing on the day to create a great atmosphere as we come together to give back, learn, and connect.

Around 30% of new clothing ends up in landfill, while many people in our communities are in need of basic essentials. Thread Together is closing that gap by rescuing brand new, unsold clothing from retailers and redistributing it free of charge to people experiencing hardship.
After recently volunteering with the team, I was deeply moved by the scale of the issue and the dignity this work restores.
We discuss the hidden reality of fashion waste, what clothing means in times of crisis, how brands are responding, and what a more sustainable industry could look like.
