This meditation will walk you through an exercise to help you heal from religious trauma. Often this topic brings up immense guilt and shame as the people who were supposed to be there for us let us down. Meeting God for yourself allows you to forgive and walk through the pain. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities. In these episodes Shelby is teaching practical skills that will help you improve your mental health. It's recommended to do these exercises in a comfortable space where you can focus. More resources available shelbyleppin.com and equippedmother.com. Imaginative Prayer Psalms 14
In these episodes Shelby reviews one of the Psalms and walks you through a guided prayer. The goal of these episodes is that you will have an opportunity to meet God for yourself. Whether you know God well or not this is a chance to connect with him on a personal level. Imaginative prayer is different from daydreaming in two ways: It is fueled not just by our imagination, but by the Holy Spirit working through our imagination. It is grounded in scripture. In imaginative prayer, the same Holy Spirit inspires (literally “breathes into”) our imaginations in a way that draws us closer to Christ. Prayer is a conversation with God; imaginative prayer creates a space for that encounter. The heart of imaginative prayer, then, is to “meet” God, usually in the person of Jesus, in a personal way.
