- In this episode, we take you behind the scenes of our own summer reset—what didn’t work last year, what we’re changing, and the small, realistic shifts helping our home feel calmer and more connected. We talk about:
Why we stopped over-planning weekly playdates so we can adjust to the actual load of the week
Cutting Back my work hours & seeing God meet our $ needs
Inviting our kids into weekly planning and daily flow now that they’re older (less control, more collaboration)
Teaching life skills through a weekly kid-led lunch plan
Upgrading chores with kid-created goal charts and more ownership
How “mother’s helper” mini jobs are building responsibility and confidence
Teaching money management, spending, and regret without shame
We also share a vulnerable work decision to be more present as a family, the fear that came with it, and a powerful story of provision.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - I dare you to Risk A Little Weirdness... To Speak Life.
If you’ve ever replayed a kind thought in your head and then talked yourself out of saying it, this conversation is for you.
I’m sharing one of my oldest, most practical habits, born in a high school journaling moment and refined over decades of real life:
...if you think something nice, say it!
Not later. Not once it feels “smooth.” Now, while it still costs a little awkwardness.
We get honest about what’s really going on when we stay silent.
It’s usually not a lack of love, it’s self-consciousness and fear of being perceived as weird. I walk through the two rules that make this habit doable: deliver it quickly before the stakes rise, and don’t require a reaction for it to “count.” Encouragement is not a transaction. It’s sowing seeds of life, calling out character, and reinforcing kingdom values in everyday places like grocery stores, parking lots, and school hallways.
You’ll also hear why I think this is the lowest-hanging fruit of the gospel, plus a personal story about Aaron reading four pages of kind words as he practiced this habit and how that moment helped shape our relationship. I leave you with a simple, concrete challenge: try it twice a day and watch what shifts in your heart, your courage, and your community. If this helped you, subscribe, share it with a friend who overthinks, and leave a review so more people can find Habit Lab.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 91: Manage Your Mouth:- you can tell the truth WITHOUT losing self-control
2026/05/12 | 25 mins.Your mouth can build safety or burn it down, and the shift happens fast.
One second you’re trying to talk things through, the next you feel flooded and you want to “just tell the truth” in a way you already know it's going to leave some scars.
I walk through a simple, practice-ready habit for managing your mouth when your nervous system is lit up and the pressure to speak feels urgent.
We unpack why so many fights go from controlled to chaotic, and why labeling a loss of restraint as “honest feedback” is usually a cover for reacting, punishing, or trying to force understanding.
There are two anchor phrases I use in real time:
“It’s always my job to manage me,” and
“They are never my standard or my source.”
When I’m triggered, I re-center on Jesus as the standard, look for a Gospel moment where He understands betrayal, misunderstanding, loneliness, or injustice, and let that empathy steady me so I can re-enter the conversation without making a bigger mess.
If this helps you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs calmer conflict, and leave a review so more people can find Habit Lab.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 89: Holy Spirit = the cheat sheet to habits that self help doesn't have
2026/04/13 | 25 mins. There’s a way of building habits that feels heavy… and there’s a way that feels like partnership.
In this episode, I’m sharing what it looks like to build habits with the Holy Spirit—where you don’t have to strive, guess, or overhaul your entire life overnight.
Instead, you can:
Ask for wisdom
Start small
Stay consistent
And trust God to multiply what you bring
Because the truth is, your effort was never meant to be enough on its own.
If you’re craving sustainable change, deeper formation, and a way forward that actually feels aligned with your faith, this conversation will meet you right where you are.
