No Contact, No reasons. Ghosting has no winners. We’ve all been ghosted. Ignored without warning or explanation. Whether it happens on the playground, at work, or in a relationship, the experience is unsettling. One minute there’s connection. The next, silence. No explanations, no answers, no closure. In Episode 13, communication specialist, business coach and managing director of Pro-Active Communications, Hanrie Fridjhon and I discuss ghosting. An age-old behaviour made more common by social media. While both sides experience it differently, the emotional toll can be equally intense. Hanrie unpacks why people ghost, how we can make sense of it, and learn how to move on.https://artlist.io/royalty-free-music/song/immaterial/68717

  • Kunsmatige Intelligensie: Vriend of Vyand?
Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?In Japan and the US, people are forming deep bonds, even marriages, with AI “partners.” American scientists use AI to develop new antibiotics for two drug-resistant infections. And in South Africa, Iris, the first robot teacher, arrived in KwaZulu-Natal. But with progress come big questions. In Episode 11 of MAOA, I chat with prof. Nicky Terblanche from Stellenbosch Business School about the fears, biases, and wonders of AI, and Vici, the “coaching bot” he built.
Ek was skoon oorstelp. A Light in the DarkOne evening not long ago, I saw a swarm of fireflies along the Luvuvhu River in the Makuya Nature Reserve. I was completely in awe. Fireflies have always felt like little “miracles” and “fairytales” to me, and everyone I ask, tend to agree. The sad part is that most of us last saw fireflies when we were children. Who are these tiny lights in the dark? Where do they live, what do they eat, how do they live — and why are there so few of them? In Episode 10, a member of the Lampyrinae family shares their joys and struggles with me, through the voice of entomologist Renier Basson from the Endangered Wildlife Trust. Download, listen in, and share your firefly memories in the comment section below.Intro & outro music: https://artlist.io/royalty-free-music/song/ immaterial/68717
