Welcome to the ‘Family Futures, Wisdom & Wealth’ holiday special!
In this sixth episode of the series, host Guy Hudson welcomes back Maria de Peverelli for a captivating case study about one of her real-life art collection management projects, Holkham Hall in Norfolk. Maria shares the stately home’s fascinating origin story, and how her decades-worth of expertise was applied to preserving Holkham Hall’s collection for future generations, and more.
From its origins in the Grand Tour era, when British aristocrats travelled Europe acquiring masterpieces, to the unique challenges of preserving historic works in a family home that is still lived in today, Maria offers rare insights into the stewardship of a collection of cultural and historical importance.
Maria de Peverell is a former museum director, collection manager and curator with over two decades of experience working with private collectors, museums, and galleries across the world. Prior to joining Stonehage Fleming as our Executive Chairman of Art Management, Maria founded OmniArte and was Gallery Director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Foundation in Lugano, Switzerland.
At Holkham Hall, she has overseen conservation, research, and preventive strategies that ensure the collection continues to be protected and enjoyed by future generations.
