Welcome to Recap Kickback where we chop it up about black entertainment news and discuss all of our favorite movies and shows.

This week on Recap Kickback, Chappell and Mari are back to discuss one of the wildest comedy events on Netflix — The Roast of Kevin Hart!

Before getting into the jokes, celebrity appearances, and chaotic roast moments, we kick things off with some Black entertainment news making waves online.

We discuss updates from ⁠Blex Media⁠, including Fourth Wing and Queen Latifah. Then we tackle Issa Rae’s upcoming vertical drama series Screen Time and what it could mean for the future of mobile storytelling and Black creators in digital media. We also talk about the rise of Druski and why his skits continue to dominate social media timelines.

Finally we jump into Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart, and wondering, "Are we too woke for roasts now?" Of course, we had to discuss the looming shadow of Katt Williams and whether this roast — and the jokes surrounding their history — could lead to a possible reconciliation between the two comedy giants after one of the most talked-about feuds in stand-up comedy.
