#401 Mark Dowdle - Winning the World Team Backyard Ultra Title at Big’s + A Life Changing 2026

On this episode, the boys had special guest Mark Dowdle on the podcast! Mark just finished Big’s Backyard Ultra, where Team USA took the win and he was top American with a new PR of 107 yards. It has been a crazy year for Mark, and he had some serious fatigue going into this. He pushed hard for the team and they were able to come out on top!
We also talked about how much Mark’s life changed in 2026. He worked part-time jobs to make ends meet while pursuing his dream. Now, he is a sponsored ultra/backyard athlete and one of the most household names in the ultra world. What a story and what an awesome human Mark is. We are grateful for his time and the message he spreads!

On this episode, the boys had special guest Alex Proctor on the pod! Alex recently quit his job to go all in on going pro in ultra running and it has been paying off in a big way! He has set several course records and recently finished 2nd at the Kodiak 100, only losing to Cody Poskin (friend of the pod) and beating out Max Joliffe!
Alex also just crewed Mark Dowdle and had many epic stories from doing that, including driving Theo Von’s cybertruck (lol). It was interesting to hear behind the scenes of how Mark is throughout a backyard ultra, especially from the lense of someone who understands ultra running at the highest level!
