TimePrints Podcast

Every life leaves a print. For nearly three decades, Katy Katopodis has been at the centre of some of the biggest stories shaping South Africa and the world. But this conversation is not about the headlines. In this episode of TimePrints, Katy opens up about becoming News Editor at just 26—only days before the 9/11 attacks—and the leadership lesson that moment taught her.She reflects on the enormous responsibility of sending journalists into dangerous situations, facing political pressure, balancing motherhood with breaking news, the loneliness of leadership, faith, family, mistakes, sacrifice and the personal price of a career spent telling other people's stories.Katy also speaks candidly about one of the most painful professional experiences of her life, the stories that changed her forever, why journalism has made her more cynical, and why she believes journalists report "a truth" rather than necessarily "the truth."
