Slam The Gavel welcomes Rick Lobo to the podcast. Rick has recently published his book, "The Trifecta Code,  When Crisis Becomes the Catalyst for Profound Change," #1 Best Seller on Amazon in August, 2026. This memoir is about making the journey through the hardest seasons of life instead of walking around them.
     On 10-4-2019, Rick's father showed up on his doorstep, unannounced. He explained to his son, that his wife, Rick's mother - who has mental illness - had attacked him. Rick was suddenly the one who had to figure out what happened. He was advised to pursue a conservatorship. However no one told Rick how hard that process would be. A Temporary Conservatorship was granted in 2020. Covid hit in March and everything got pushed back in the courts. What followed was three years of a battle Rick had not expected. Not just against the courts, but against his whole family. His mother had passed away on 9-20-23. Rick had seen her four days earlier. Rick is still in the battle to this day.....

Slam The Gavel Podcast welcomes new guest, Brenna Gano McNab. Brenna is from San Mateo County, California. She has been suffering through the family court system along with other parents who are also tied to the same judge: Judge Vivian Wang. On Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, Judge Wang will be deciding upon the foreclosure of Brenna's home. 
    Brenna and her extended family, are also alienated from her only son who is now 19 years old. Brenna's ex is a British national, not a U.S. citizen. What does this tell you about the system that a foreign national could navigate California family court more successfully than a U.S. citizen?

Slam The Gavel welcomes back Natalia Dalton. Natalia, was last on the podcast Season 6, Episode 366. She discussed what it was like to grow up being raised by a Narcissistic parent, then finding herself unknowingly getting involved with a man with those same traits. Now, her son's education is in a precarious position. Natalia dedicated a song to her son: "Rescue," by Laura Daigle.
     Discussing how the courts "got it wrong," is an understatement when handing a vulnerable child over to THE WRONG PARENT. However, Natalia went to the courts for help, wanting the father to be involved in their son's life.

Slam The Gavel welcomes Author, Marta Bryceland to the podcast. Marta was last on the podcast Season 6, Episode 388. Today she discusses her upcoming book, "Invisible Prisons," and her experience of surviving 60 days on Rikers Island. Marta was wrongfully detained at Rikers Island after a family court dispute turned into a criminal case. However, there is a pattern the reader may recognize somewhere in their own life, and how they themselves are in an invisible prison. Not only did we exchange our own prison experiences, Marta gave insight on how to survive the journey leading up to going into prison and surviving on the inside of Rikers Island.

Slam the Gavel welcomes return guest, James Johnson. James was last on the podcast Season 6, Episode 398, August 31st, 2026. James Johnson is a father from San Mateo County, California. His daughter died by suicide on July 4th. He had been alienated from his daughter and spent years battling in court for the ability to see her. He describes experiencing extreme financial and litigation abuse throughout the court process, including the removal of custody without, what he believes was "sufficient cause."
      A NEW COURT DATE for James which is set to be heard on September 30th, 2026 at 9:00an PST before Judge Cindy Mayfield on the 2nd floor of Superior Court of San Mateo County. This father is requesting that he is allowed to have her ashes for a funeral and have a final destination resting place where others can go to grieve. James Johnson is asking for in-person court watchers and/or on Zoom.
