A fundamental aspect of medicine, it is ever so important for doctors to recognize a patient as they turn unwell.Joining us today, is Dr Esther Tan Qiao Li, Consultant in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, in Singapore General Hospital. Wearing multiple hats, she is actively involved in the Extracorporeal Life Support Team, SGH Medical Intensive Care Unit Acute Response Team, and is current Programme Director of the SingHealth Respiratory Medicine Senior Residency Programme.We discuss the approach to a patient who is critically ill - from the initial evaluation to resuscitative measures, and delve a little onto managing the GI system in the ICU.Â
