Dogman Encounters Radio

Tonight’s guest, James R. Hood, is a Dogman field investigator who has been interested in cryptids since he was 13 years old. Little did he know, back then, that one day he’d be interviewing Dogman eyewitnesses and conducting field investigations in the very places where they had their encounters.

On tonight’s show, not only will I be talking with James about his investigations, he’s also going to share several Dogman encounters that eyewitnesses have shared with him over the years. We hope you’ll tune in and listen to him do that.

Adam Merriott is a filmmaker who lives in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The reason Adam is here tonight is that he’s working on a project called “Legacy of the Forest,” a cinematic horror story focused on the Dogman phenomenon.

Adam’s main goal with the project is to tell the stories behind the Dogman encounters so many eyewitnesses have had over the years, using the language of cinema. Adam isn’t making the film only for people who already believe in the existence of Dogmen. He also wants people who don’t know a thing about Dogmen to be able to watch the film and walk away with something from the experience.

To get the project off the ground, though, he’ll need help financing it. That’s why he’s launching a Kickstarter campaign for the project.

Adam’s aspirations for “Legacy of the Forest” don’t end with a short film. He wants the short film to merely be the beginning of the project. After the film is released, he hopes to expand “Legacy of the Forest” into a cinematic universe consisting of a trilogy of feature films alongside an eight-episode television series.

On tonight’s show, Adam is going to tell us what to expect from the film and announce the launch of the Kickstarter campaign he plans to use to help fund the project. We hope you’ll tune in and listen to him do that.

On last week’s show, our guest, Sean Patterson, talked about several of the amazing Dogman encounters he’s had in a place tucked away in the woods surrounding Irvine, California. He calls the place “The Dogman Sanctuary.”

Due to how many experiences he had to share on last week’s show, I didn’t have time to ask him the plethora of questions I had for him. There also wasn’t enough time for me to display a group of photos he took that show the Dogmen and areas around the sanctuary.

In the woods surrounding Irvine, California, there’s an area tonight’s guest, Sean Patterson, was drawn to when he was younger. He doesn’t know why, but he always enjoyed spending time there while roaming the woods.

More than 10 years later, Sean made an amazing discovery about that spot. He says the area serves as a sanctuary for a group of Dogmen and that, after spending so much time there, they began interacting with him.

Over the course of those interactions, Sean was able to take several pictures of them, which he shared with me. When he comes back next week for a Q&A, I’m going to display those pictures on the YouTube version of the show and have Sean tell us the story behind each one.

Late one night in 2012, tonight’s guest was riding home with her fiancé in Marietta, Ohio, after feeding, watering, and exercising her horse where she had been boarding him. Her fiancé was driving, and “Mandy” had her feet up on the dashboard on the passenger side of his truck.

As they drove past Sacra Via Park, all of a sudden, her fiancé slammed on the brakes and stopped the truck in the road. When Mandy looked over at him, he was white-knuckled, with a death grip on the steering wheel. When she asked him what was wrong, he told her that he had seen something he initially thought was a deer—but it wasn’t a deer. As he described what he had seen, he was white as a sheet.

Mandy never saw what her fiancé had seen that night, but the experience lit a fire in her. Using his description, she began doing exhaustive research in an attempt to figure out what it might have been. Eventually, she came to believe that what he had seen was most likely something called a Dogman.

After reaching that conclusion, Mandy became almost obsessed with Dogmen. Her fascination with them eventually led her to seek out an encounter of her own. She began walking her dog, Boston, at night in the same park where her fiancé had seen the Dogman, hoping that, sooner or later, she would have a Dogman encounter of her own.

As fate would have it, on a very hot night, around 2 AM, in August of 2013, while walking Boston in that park, Mandy finally got her wish.

Unfortunately, the experience didn’t affect her the way she thought it would. She thought she was ready to have a Dogman encounter, but she wasn’t. Since that night, she’s suffered from ongoing Dogman-related nightmares and night terrors. She’s also been diagnosed with PTSD and says she is still traumatized by the experience.

We hope you’ll tune in to tonight’s show and listen to Mandy share everything she’s been through, including why she believes her encounter affected her so strongly. What happened to Mandy should serve as a warning to anyone who thinks they’d like to have a Dogman encounter of their own.

It just might not turn out the way you hoped it would.
