• 10. New-Cities

  In this episode of Urban Resilience Dialogues we are talking about New-Cities. Our conversation so far has been focusing on the different aspects of urban resilience in existing urban settlements. But this time, we decided to consider new cities and their role in addressing contemporary urban challenges. It seems that, as we speak, about 150 entirely new cities are under construction worldwide in more than 40 countries, and particularly in the Global South. To explore this all with us, we’re joined by Heba Elhanafy. Heba is an urban researcher at the Charter Cities Institute, currently based in CCI regional offices in Lusaka, Zambia. Her research interests lie in the intersection of the history and the future of urban settlements. She has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Alexandria University and a master’s degree in Urban Development from the Technical University of Berlin.

• 9. Learning

  In this episode of Urban Resilience Dialogues, we are talking about learning. To explore this new topic, we discussed with Juan Carlos Uribe. Juan is working as a Learning Officer at United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), which is one of the largest networks of cities, local and regional governments and their associations. He shared with us his rich experience promoting decentralized cooperation, city-to-city learning, and developing learning resources for the localization of global agendas such as the SDGs and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.

• 8. Water

  In the eighth episode of Urban Resilience Dialogues, we are talking about water. To explore this all with us, we’re joined by Eleanor Treadwell. Eleanor is project officer for World Waternet, coordinating Water Operator Partnerships with Amsterdam’s public water utility in West Africa. She works with utilities in public-public partnerships to improve operations and maintenance as well as securing investments for safe, sufficient and sustainable water. She participates actively in the global water community representing young professionals in the Valuing Water Initiative, Amsterdam and Stockholm Water Weeks.
