Here, we embarked on various adventures both by boat and on foot and encountered many unexpected forest creatures (from golden forest elephants to a daytime sighting of an African palm civet) including one of the true crown jewels of the Congo rainforest. This week, we continue our journey through Congo’s Odzala National Park as we arrive at Lango Camp, set beside one of the region’s remarkable forest bais (a clearing in the rainforest). From kayaking the Lekoli River and tracking forest elephants on foot to wading through ancient swamp channels and encountering spotted hyenas after dark, this episode captures the raw, immersive experience that makes Odzala so special. Along the way, we share some of the quieter moments, unexpected encounters, and plenty of mud as we explore the unique habitat and its rich wildlife.
