If we are called to love people even in light of their brokenness, does that mean we are also called to freely trust them?

In this continuation of The Sobering Reality of the Bride, we explore the distinction between love and trust—two things we often conflate in an attempt to be “good Christians.” Scripture calls us to love as Christ has loved us and to forgive as we have been forgiven, but does that mean we are called to give everyone unrestricted access to our trust?

Looking at the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14–30, Fedhii asks a sobering question: Why did the master give the servant only one talent in the first place? What if there had been a history of faithfulness—or unfaithfulness—that informed what the master entrusted to each servant?

God loves us unconditionally, yet Scripture shows that trust and responsibility are entrusted according to faithfulness. We can love someone without giving them trust they have not demonstrated themselves worthy of carrying. This episode confronts the misconception that love requires the absence of boundaries, and invites us to recover the biblical distinction between loving everyone and trusting wisely.

If we truly recognize the fallen and broken nature of man, how are we still called to “hope all things” in our relationships?

In this continuation of The Sobering Reality of the Bride, we sit in the tension between seeing people honestly and choosing to hope in them. Scripture calls us to acknowledge the reality of human brokenness, yet it never calls us to become cynical, suspicious, or hopeless toward one another.

This honest journal entry looks at how God Himself engages with man—fully aware of our nature, yet still choosing relationship, love, patience, and hope. What does it look like for us to do the same? To have sober expectations without withholding love, and to see someone’s brokenness without allowing it to define what we believe is possible in them?

Perhaps biblical hope isn't rooted in our confidence in man, but in our confidence in the God who knows man completely and still chooses to love him.

In this journal entry, Fedhii shares an encounter and reflects on the sobering reality of the Bride. Centered around John 2:24–25:

“But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man.”

This conversation is a call to engage with one another with sobriety—to hold both the beauty and the brokenness of the Bride in view.

There are moments when the Bride reflects Jesus beautifully, but there is also still death and darkness among us. If we fully hand our hearts to people because of the beauty we have seen through them, we may eventually experience pain from the same hands where we once encountered something beautiful.

This is an invitation to temper our expectations of one another and engage with the Bride in light of reality—not with cynicism or distrust, but with sobriety.

In this journal entry, Biiftuu gets personal about the importance of building a relationship with the Lord that is truly our own. Worship leaders, preachers, ministries, and anointings can all be gifts from God, but they were never meant to carry our relationship with Him for us—they should be additions, not substitutes.

Have we reduced Christianity to gathering at public worship nights, singing at the top of our lungs, and then returning home to silence? What kind of relationship in this life could exist like that—affection in public, but silence in private?

Drawing from Exodus 33, Biiftuu reflects on Moses entering the tent of meeting while the Israelites pitched their tents around his, watching from a distance as the pillar of cloud descended. How often do we do the same? We pitch our tents around someone else’s intimacy with God and settle for experiencing what flows from their relationship with Him.

But what if we stopped pitching our tents around someone else’s encounter and built our own? What if every Israelite went away, pitched their own tent, and met with the Lord—and the pillar came down over every tent?

If we stripped away all the additives, what would remain? Is there a personal relationship with Jesus that has substance of its own?

In this episode, Fedhii shares from an encounter with the Lord and continues the conversation on ambition—specifically, the idolization of our careers.

We can spend our entire lives giving ourselves to our careers, chasing success and reaching the highest points, only to realize one day that it was all in vain. You will never find true satisfaction in your work unless you are working unto Jesus.

“See the man who would not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his riches and sought refuge in his own destruction!” — Psalm 52:7

We hear stories of people who worked tirelessly, achieved everything they wanted, and reached the top—only to discover that it was empty. Everything we do apart from Jesus is ultimately meaningless. The question is not simply what we are building, but who we are building it for.
