Send us a textAboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that this episode will contain names of deceased persons.  Associated social media will contain names and images of deceased persons. With the end of NAIDOC week, I decided to look up some early Aboriginal gardeners; however, this proved a wee bit difficult.  I chat about why this is the case.  Also speak about two ladies who were quoted to have a vast knowledge of plants, the environment, and their uses. Please check out the show notes if you're interested in reading more about the day-to-day lives of these women.  50 years ago was the first scientific source acknowledged the first peoples of Australia and their understanding of the plant world.Aboriginal Ladieshttps://www.utas.edu.au/library/companion_to_tasmanian_history/W/Woretem.htmhttps://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/woretemoeteryenner-29701https://images.app.goo.gl/bH8M1L1vjAajfGUg8https://historyofaboriginalsydney.edu.au/south-west/places-mum-took-me-frances-bodkin | https://www.griffithreview.com/articles/seeding-knowledge/ |   |  Support the showAny links pertaining to this podcast will be in the show notes or through my website. www.stemsleavesandroots.comThank you to Maddy Thorpe for the artwork. About Stems Leaves & Roots with Dani

This podcast is about everything plants. It is in episodic format. The first few were dedicated to kitchen gardens. I talk about indoor plants and making your gardens stress-free. And on a budget!I also have minis on women who paved the way for women like myself in this industry. From the first to get degrees in horticulture, to the women who made it easier for us modern gals to study at places like BurnleyIn 2025, I start a new imagining of bites. These are about my favourite plants and how you will also fall in love with them. I will tell you about how to grow them.In the future, I hope to have some interviews with women in horticulture of today.
