In our last episode, the girls of the Double Dutch Club were excited about the arrival of Coach Hughes. Amber and Brittany were each hoping to get a spot on the team. Coach Hughes was very impressed with the progress Amber had made over the summer. Both girls were happy when Coach Hughes made a surprising announcement.

Last week, the students in Mr. Stevens' class found themselves facing a deadline for their family tree project. While Tanya and Brittany's thoughts were focused on jumping Double Dutch on the blacktop, Tanya was glad she at least had managed to get her ideas on paper. However, she worried Brittany wouldn't finish her project at all.

In Chapter 3, Tanya introduced Brittany to the Girls in The Double Dutch Club and invited her to jump with them on the blacktop. And although Brittany didn't get a chance to jump that day, she was glad to have been included and given the opportunity to turn the ropes.

Last week, after an unfriendly encounter, Brittany and Tanya found themselves in the same homeroom. Their teacher Mr. Stevens conducted a welcoming exercise that caused the two of them to meet again. However, Tanya's discovery about Brittany made her realize that maybe the "new girl" was as confident as she appeared.
