Last week, Leon decided to let Mrs. Kelso know he was ready to take hi studies seriously. Unfortunately, his news was interrupted by the arrival of a new student named Autumn. Though he decided to show his intelligence by doing an exceptional job on a math assignment. That idea also failed when a classmate accused him of cheating. Leon knew his attempt to change his ways had failed, but he also knew he would have to keep trying.

In Chapter 4, Derrick told Leon he was a cheater because he didn't want anyone to know how smart he was. This was the moment Leon remembered how Pop had talked about him going to college and how Mrs. Kelso had been so impressed with his poem. Leon decided it was time to come clean.

This week, we will have an encore presentation of Leon's Share which is Book 1 in The Young Conquerors Series.

In Chapter 3, Leon wondered if he would ever do something good enough to have Nana bake a Sweet Potato pie just for him. He looked up to his big brother Derrick but wasn't sure he could ever live up to his brother's accomplishments.

In our last episode, Leon Chandler and Keith Porter did not look forward to working together, but Mrs. Kelso had assigned them the task of sharing their poems. Leon was careful not to discourage Keith, and when it was time to share his own poem, Leon made one up. To his surprise, Mrs. Kelso heard his words and was amazed. Leon's secret was out. He was truly a gifted poet.
