People ask us about parenting and marriage all the time.

Be Realistic — Believe what God really said. Not the limited version of “realistic” the world uses, but the unseen reality of what God has spoken about your identity, the future, and the people around you.
Be Relational — Life is built on connection. God has never been alone. Isolation and siloed living create fear and conflict. Healthy, intentional relationships are not optional in the Kingdom.
Take Risks — Faith is spelled risk. Don’t raise children who are self-protecting and risk-averse. Jesus said the one who tries to save his own life will lose it. Humans are designed for transcendence.
The greatest gift you can give your kids and grandkids is not control.
It’s teaching them how to hear the voice of the Shepherd more clearly than the voice of the enemy — so their identity comes from God alone, not from people, performance, or possessions.
Because one day they will be alone in the world.
And the question is: whose voice will be loudest in their head?
This is Kingdom life.
Realistic. Relational. Risky.
And full of joy.

What if the most joyful person in the room is still carrying a deep wound?
During a recent Catalyst Training, Jamie and Donna Winship and their coaches demonstrated the Identity Exchange process with an international participant who seemed to have it all together. She was exuberant, grateful, and full of life. Yet when they asked a simple question—“Where are you experiencing conflict right now?”—a longstanding family dispute over inherited land surfaced. That present tension led them back through a trail of memories to a shocking core wound from when she was only two years old.
In a war-torn region, her mother set her down and fled as guerrilla fighters approached. The rebels picked her up. Her father arrived, was nearly killed… and then one of the “enemies” looked into the little girl’s eyes and spared both their lives because of her.
When the coach asked, “Where was Jesus in that moment?” everything shifted. The woman realized the one holding her—the one who saw her when she was abandoned—was how Jesus was present. In that revelation she received her true identity: not powerless, unseen, or alone… but Reconciler. Ambassador.
And then the transformation became complete. She took that truth forward into her current family conflict and walked out of the session with clarity, courage, and a plan to bring peace.
