     Guest: Dr. Simon Dyall

About this episode: In this episode, Dr. Bill Harris and Kelly Patterson talk to Dr. Simon Dyall, who received his BS in biochemistry from the University of Sussex and his PhD in neuroscience from Queen Mary University of London, where his research focused on neuroprotective roles of Omega-3 fatty acids. Ask Us Anything: A-Fib, Plaques & Dementia

    2026/03/03 | 47 mins.
In this “Ask Us Anything,” we break down the omega-3 & atrial fibrillation (AFib) story (who’s at risk—and who isn’t), explain why the Omega-3 Index target is 8–12%, and cover practical decisions like how to read fish-oil labels (EPA + DHA), choosing sources (fish oil, algal oil, krill, salmon roe, ahiflower), and storing products to limit oxidation.

Omega Matters 2026 is back with Dr. Bill Harris (OmegaQuant) and new co-host Kelly Patterson, RD—answering your most-asked questions about omega-3s, the Omega-3 Index, and what the clinical data actually show.

    Topics covered:

AFib risk: why the signal shows up mainly with high-dose omega-3 in high cardiovascular-risk patients, not typical supplement/food intakes

Plaque progression: what the evidence says about slowing coronary plaque growth

Brain health: omega-3 status and dementia risk (including early-onset dementia and APOE4)

EPA vs DHA (and why “both” usually wins) + common ratio myths

Bleeding concerns, SPMs, immunity markers (NLR), dry eye, omega-6 (linoleic acid), and omega-3 for pets
