This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, happy Monday!!!! Jules is BACK from Cape Cod (with a hot take: there is nothing better than timing a girls trip with the premiere of Love Island!!!). And we officially took our first road trip with 2 under 2 (Dallas!!)… we have OPINIONS… is it actually easier to drive 3 hours or fly 30 minutes when you have a toddler and a newborn?! We break down the full case for each (and the verdict surprised even us).

Then we get into Harrison officially deleting social media from his phone (goodbye doomscrolling) and what he's doing to "replace" that time (Morning Brew!), which leads Alex to a BIG announcement: we are officially starting a Substack!!! Coming Thursdays (we think) starting next week (we think), plus you guys already know but next week we're ALSO moving to 3 episodes a week (Mon/Wed/Fri), which Harrison is suddenly calling a trial but we are not.

We get into all things parenting: the mom who couldn't pump at a spa and went VIRAL (uhhh the law is the law!!), the impact of a dad on his daughter's self-esteem before age 5, what we learned at the Pure Mama x Nuna motherhood panel (postpartum mood disorders can show up as OCD, rage, paranoia, psychosis & more), and Rocky's reflux update because Dr. Ari's advice changed EVERYTHING.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're back with Dr. Ari Brown (Pediatrician + author of the iconic 411 series) for our newborn 411 episode!! We are officially in the thick of it with Rocky and we had a LONG list of questions for her (+ a TON from you guys!). 

We start with Dr. Ari walking us through "Hour 49" (the moment the wheels fall off after the hospital and you suddenly have a different baby!), the ONE thing no one tells you before having a newborn (spoiler: how exhausting it actually is + body recovery is REAL), & why what happens at the hospital stays at the hospital. 

Then we get into all things feeding: scheduled feeding vs. feeding on demand, why the first 2 hours after birth are SO critical for your milk supply, how to know if your baby is actually getting enough milk (ins, outs, weight checks!), and the FULL reflux 101 breakdown because Rocky has been spitting up like crazy and we needed answers. We get into reflux vs. reflux DISEASE (when to actually worry, the IGERQ scale you can take online to score it, and why holding your reflux baby like a loaf of bread is actually genius). Plus, a spontaneous BICKER OF THE WEEK on whether bottle temperature actually matters for newborns (Dr. Ari has thoughts!!).

We also get into the REAL symptoms of cow's milk protein allergies (only 3% of babies actually have them!! And why you should NOT cut everything out of your diet), what to actually look for in your baby's poop (yellow seedy = breastfed normal, slimy mucousy = problem), diaper blowouts (when they stop and why they happen in the first place lol), fussiness & colic + Dr. Ari's take on probiotics for newborns (very fascinating!), and the chiropractic care for newborns. 

Plus, we get into sleep: sleep schedules in the first 3 months & when wake windows actually start to matter (spoiler: NOT in the newborn phase!). Then our “is it normal?!” questions from YOU GUYS: when newborn noises are actually concerning (consistent grunting = call your doctor!), when to actually take your baby's temperature (rectal is the only accurate way, sorry parents!), and what to expect at your follow up pediatrician appointments.

This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we are SO BACK (lol… we're feeling like this is our first full on episode back since having Rocky 🥹) And we're getting into a bunch of stuff. A big one: "holding the line" as parents, especially around bedtime (our ask: this this necessary?!), and the broader conversation of rule vs. suggestion (and the importance of being consistent… which is something we needed to talk to OURSELVES about hahaha).

Off the top we get into optimization culture: Harrison did a 36-hour fast this week (per his longevity doctor!!), which spirals into a bigger convo about how we've all gone a LITTLE too far. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, it's what we call a quick "chit chat" episode to start off your 4-day work week :-) Harrison joins us for all of about a minute before we sent him home with the kids… but NOT BEFORE Tate said "hello" to the pod listeners (guys, she was so proud of herself for using the mic).

We start with our MDW block party recap. We had 200+ people show up, the dunk tank was the unexpected MVP, and Harrison flipped 200+ burgers/dogs (because the man does everything 200%). OH — and it wouldn't be a block party in Austin if a Waymo didn't get confused and stuck on our street for like 15 minutes (hahahha). We also get into our actual TIPS on how to throw your own block party because it's so much easier than you think (even though it was a big “get out of your comfort zone” moment for us).

Then we get into a little pop culture: the ESPN announcer who refused to say Taylor Swift's name during the Cavs game (?? still confused why), Jessica Simpson didn't even NEED to make a comeback (you guys… her net worth is $200M vs. Hilary Duff's $20M, which completely flipped our opinion from last ep), and we covered her response to the Nick Lachey flight situation (her mom bought the first class tickets… mystery solved!).

Then we continue our new ongoing debate over crown vs. crayon (10% of you actually say crown!!), which spirals us into a whole conversation about regional dialects (the NYT Dialect Quiz, the Cleveland "tree lawn", and Alex saying "sea-ment" instead of "cement"). Oh and apparently Jules made a VIRAL BuzzFeed quiz back in the day that had millions of hits (which Halo Top flavor are you?! Plus, because Harrison left with the kids and we had time on our hands, we went TIKTOK LIVE with you guys to do a Q&A for the first time!!! Then we end with two important (read facetiously) questions: should you let your kid stay up past bedtime if they're reading? (The "run or read" bedtime hack that's getting a lot of buzz online.) AND… is it socially acceptable to bring Jules's new ORANGE iPhone 17 Pro Max to a black tie wedding?! (We think yes, because Morgan Stewart said so.)
