Christianity is not a system of rules, formulas, or theological principles to follow – we follow a Person. Our faith is defined by grace, not self-directed effort or mere adherence to moral guidelines. Throughout Scripture, God’s desire has always been for His people to walk with Him, from Enoch’s daily fellowship with God to Moses seeking His presence and Paul following the Spirit’s leading. Jonathan Stanfield reminds us that our faith calls us beyond knowing what the Bible says to walking closely with the living Saviour it reveals – learning to hear His voice and follow His leading.

Could you be drifting from Jesus without realising it?
Spiritual drift rarely happens overnight – over time, small compromises and subtle shifts take us further off course than we realise. Staying close to Jesus requires daily repentance, continually returning to His love, and living in deep relationship with other believers. Here, Daniel Barnard warns against allowing deception, unchecked desires, and untested online voices to shape our faith. As a ship continually corrects its course, he reminds us that believers must continually realign their hearts and lives to the Lord’s ways.

Are we still responding to the distress signal of the lost around us?
The world around us is filled with people who are lost and separated from God. Having received the message of reconciliation ourselves, we have a responsibility to carry the gospel to others. Here, Daniel Barnard reminds us that Jesus moved intentionally towards people who were outside of His followers’ comfort zones – interrupting their schedules and crossing boundaries to go where others might not. In the same way, our homes, workplaces, and neighbourhoods are opportunities to share the gospel. We have all been rescued – not to become passengers, but to be rescuers ourselves.

What if your greatest mission field is already part of your everyday life?
Sometimes the mission field is closer than we think. When Jesus restores a tormented man in Mark 5, He sends him home with a simple assignment: to tell his family what the Lord has done. Jonathan Stanfield reminds us that to “go home” is not a lesser calling – it is an important part of the mission field. In our desire to reach the nations, serve in ministry, and do something significant for God, we can overlook the people and places right in front of us. Before we take the gospel across the world, are we willing to take it across the room and across the street?

How can leaders disciple and equip saints for ministry?
Jesus shaped the Twelve into men who would change the world. Church leaders can learn much from the way Jesus discipled and shaped individuals to become all that He had for them. To bring saints into the plans that God has for them, leaders must cultivate biblical values within our churches and come back to intentional discipleship and equipping. Here, Andrew Selley reminds church leaders that we are called to bring the broken into wholeness and furnish what is lacking, so that saints can go on to make disciples of all nations, building a legacy of leadership.
Are new leaders still being raised in our churches, or have we slipped into maintenance mode?
