Everything Went Black Podcast

Filmmaker and author Richard Stanley joins us this week.  Richard released Grail Hunter: The Secret of the Cathars and the Return of the White Lady, chronicling the journeys of occultist and former SS officer Otto Rahn.  He is more widely know for COLOR OUT OF SPACE, one of the highest profile adaptations of Lovecraft’s work.

Will Smith and Rick Habeeb from Reeking Aura join us this week ahead of second single the title track off their new LP On the Promise of the Moon.  Their first single What Only Worms Witness was tremendous, so we’re all looking forward to the rest of the album. Rick and Will are returning guests. In addition to Reeking Aura, Will is the vocalist of Afterbirth and hosts the Heavy Hole Podcast; Rick is the singer and guitarist for Grey Skies Fallen.

Eugene S. Robinson returns this week. You know Eugene from his musical exploits as the frontman for Bunuel, Oxbow, Whipping Boy and various other projects. Additionally, Eugene is a prolific journalist and author, check out his books Fight, the noir fiction A Long Slow Screw and is memor A Walk Across Dirty Water and Straight Into a Murderer’s Row.

Rennie and I are back another episode or KILL OR BE KILLED, our exploration of the bleak, brutal movies of the 70’ and 80’s.  The seminal masterpiece PAT GARRETT AND BILLY THE KID, directed by Sam Peckinpah, in prime form, is our subject this time around.  There are a multitude of cuts available that have been released over the years so, for the record, we will be used the 1988 Turner Preview Cut for basis. This, 122 minute version is an attempt to combine the theatrical release and some “new” scenes that we edited out of the theatrical version and is widely considered closer to Sam Peckinpah’s intent.
