Our stories today highlight some lovely spectator experiences in the Village of Nothing Much. We’ll settle into the joy of stepping back and observing. First, we’ll stroll down to the park and toss a blanket over the grass, where we can listen to the crack of the bat as the inning passes in At the Diamond. Then we’ll button up a flannel shirt, stop for a cup of hot cider, and climb to the top section in In the Bleachers. Finally, we’ll settle in on the patio, around the bonfire as it snaps and crackles, and wait for the clouds to clear in Harvest Moon.

Lavender Farm and Apple Orchard Walking Tour
On this Village walking tour, we’ll wander tree-lined streets, admire charming houses, peek into little free libraries, and meet neighbors with their pups. Along the way, we’ll chase the ice cream truck, stop at blooming gardens, and greet familiar friends like Ladybug, Crumb, Birdie, and Marmalade — ending the evening under a sky of crickets, fireflies, and stars.

The Beginning of a Love Story (Encore)

Our stories today are part of a larger arc that started with the most popular residents of the Village, Marmalade the Cat, and her little brother, Crumb the Dog. I’d set out to just tell the next part of their story, but found a spark that would eventually lead to love. First comes Raining Cats and Dogs, where we can listen to the thunder, shuffle around the house in the dim, stormy light, and contemplate plans for the day. Then we’ll hear Old Friends, a story about a day spent watching movies on the couch, a greyhound in a yellow rain slicker, and a fresh cup of coffee with a bit of sugar stirred in. Finally, we’ll follow the mail carrier through the neighborhood as he delivers special missives with LOVE stamps in RSVP.
