Liz Weaver joins Lamar and Tom in this episode of Getting to 3rd Space to talk about collaboration, trust, and transitions. Liz retired recently from her role as Co-CEO of Tamarack Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Tamarack is known for its work in catalyzing collective action with diverse leaders to solve major community challenges including ending poverty, building youth futures, building belonging, and addressing climate change in cities and communities, within Canada, and around the world. 
Liz Weaver spent a significant part of her career with Tamarack where she led teams in creating resources, facilitating change initiatives, and 34,000 learners and members to do the same. 
In this long-form conversation, Liz, Lamar, and Tom talk about how facilitators can build trust and create collaboration between and among individuals holding diverse ideas. They also discuss Liz’s recent research and publication on workplace transitions and, of course, acts of kindness.

Stephen Owens was Lamar & Tom’s first guest on Getting to 3rd Space in the first season of the podcast. This week he is our first ever Table Talk guest on the podcast and we talk about school choice.
During the first season of our podcast Stephen Owens was representing the 74th District in the Kansas House of Representatives. He served in the Kansas House from 2019 to 2024. In 2025, Stephen was elected to the Kansas Senate and is now serving the 31st Senate District. In another first, Senator Owens is joining as our first guest for a Table Talk. He is a Republican lawmaker in Kansas. The topic is school choice. School choice, as we are thinking about it for this podcast, allows public education funds to be used to support K-12 students whose families choose for them to attend public, private, or charter schools, home schooling, or other educational environments they choose.

Second, we collect these Acts of Kindness to share and highlight during our annual Thanksgiving podcast. For this reason, it is always open and you can come back as many times as you like. We don’t ask your name and only tell us where you live (without too much detail please).
