The Lanterns season finale finally answers who killed Hal Jordan — and John Stewart becomes the Green Lantern. Chanel, Brandon & Sharmane break it all down. 🟢Welcome back to We Was Watching, the podcast where Chanel, Brandon & Sharmane break down the shows everyone's talking about. This week we're recapping the Lanterns Season 1 finale (Episode 8), "Dirt and Stars" — the HBO Max episode that closes the murder mystery and completes John Stewart's origin story. We get into ALL of it: the reveal that Noah Macon is the true last Manhunter, Noah kidnapping John and then asking to be mercy-killed, and John's choice to let him live. We break down the real answer to who killed Hal — Sheriff Kerry Kane, out of fear for her Manhunter son — and the quiet, grace-filled confrontation instead of the big CGI brawl. Plus the Halogram resisting Sinestro's resurrection deal, Hal's bittersweet "I love you too, Junior" goodbye, Guy Gardner's return, and John finally taking the oath on his own terms to become Earth's Green Lantern. We talk Sinestro's loose ends, the yellow "fear" lantern, what it means that John's next appearance is in 2027's Man of Tomorrow, and whether Season 2 is happening.
