A popular, successful young man hit up a nightclub in Chelsea on November 12, 2016. Then he went off to an afterparty on the opulent Upper East Side. It should’ve just been another fun adventure in New York City. But it wasn’t. Because that young man — 26-year-old Joey Comunale — never came home.
His case is the subject of an episode of the latest season of Homicide: New York, a true crime docuseries on Netflix from Law & Order creator Dick Wolf.
We interviewed Bob Hahn, one of the veteran NYPD detectives who appeared in the series. He spoke to us about his work on the Comunale case, and his experience as a homicide detective working in Manhattan.
