Cotton Sensei Podcast - Episode 30 (Guest Mix By Frank De Guy)
We're thrilled to welcome Frank Seaparo Mashabela to the Cotton Sensei Podcast for an exclusive debut guest mix, professionally known as Frank De Guy, is a DJ hailing from Limpopo. His passion for music began during his childhood, particularly during the era of Kwaito music, which preceded the rise of South African house music producers. “My love for music started during the time of Kwaito, before house music producers dominated the scene,” he recalls.
Initially aspiring to become a Kwaito artist, Frank De Guy is a self-taught DJ who began his musical journey in 2005 alongside his cousin, DJ Makhen. He furthered his pursuits in 2008 in collaboration with his friend, DJ Barcode. Together, they launched the Deep House Movement in 2014, hosted at Badikila Road House in Burgersfort—a platform that brought him into contact with local talents such as DJ Manu, Corena House, and others.
His journey progressed in 2018 through a partnership with Hyper Deep and Potso R Skhu. In 2019, Frank De Guy expanded his musical reach by releasing numerous mixtapes across various podcast platforms. “I don’t have my own podcast,” he notes.
To date, Frank De Guy remains active in the house music scene and has performed alongside a wide range of prominent DJs, including DJ Lolo, 404, Ruud, Ceet Mahlatse Soulspinna, Da Prince, Soul B, Nyama, DK Deep, Dejust, Chymamusique, Brazo Wa Afrika, Mohlabane, SnareJay, Master-D, Master-P, Sanchromash, StayCool, DamageSA, Fems, Mash, KaliDaMoore, DaveMoore, SnakeMusiq, MasLadyStaggzJazz, Vynalist, and Rea Blaq, among many other local talents.
