Take Up The Towel
Bible Text: John 13. True significance is found in servanthood, not importance. Have you ever thought of it that way? For most of us, we believe that importance brings significance. However, Jesus gave us the example that significance is found in serving others. It’s the upside-down kingdom principle. Jesus says, now that I have washed your feet, you should also wash one another’s feet. As apprentices of Jesus, our calling is to be with Jesus, become like Jesus and do as He did. That means if Jesus picked up the towel, so should we. Following Jesus means you are called to a life of service.

When God Disappoints
Bible Text: John 11:1-17. Disappointment is a part of life. We all experience disappointment. Disappointment is the sadness we feel when life doesn’t turn out the way we hoped. When people let us down, it hurts. When we experience pain from loss, it hurts. When tragedy hits us, and our lives are turned upside down, it can be devastating. I can’t help to think about the over 100 people who lost their lives last week in a flash flood in Texas, many of them were children who were sleeping at a Summer camp. It is a parent’s worst nightmare. To get that call. Your child was swept away in a flood, and several of them are still not found. This is not just disappointment, it’s devastation. It’s tragic. It’s heartbreaking. It shakes us to the core. More often than not, we turn our disappointment towards God. What do you do when God doesn’t do what you expected? When you believed for healing… and it didn’t happen? When you prayed for the breakthrough… and it didn’t come? When you trusted Him… and He still allowed the loss? When you thought He would protect you and your children, and it seems like He did not?

The Door to Life
Bible Text: John 10:1-21
Life without God can feel like a giant game show —You’re searching behind every “door” the world offers — careers, relationships, status, success — hoping we’ll finally uncover something that satisfies our souls. Hoping for something that is going to give us peace, purpose and security. But too often, we end up with a spiritual “zonk” — it looked good, but it left us empty. Let’s Make a Deal is built on uncertainty — you never really know what’s behind the curtain. You’re gambling, hoping for the best but risking something worse. Life without God often mirrors this — decisions are based on guesswork, feelings, or fleeting desires. Without divine direction, people are left to “make deals” with the world, culture, or their own limited understanding, hoping it leads to fulfillment but often ending in disappointment. Without God, life becomes a gamble; with God, it becomes a guided journey. When we follow Jesus, we’re no longer gambling for meaning because we’ve found the true prize. We don’t have to guess what’s behind the door because He is the Door that leads to Life. Jesus says, let’s make a deal. I will give you my life if you give me yours. Give me your life and I will give you mine. It’s actually not a deal, it’s a promise— we receive a promise. He says, give me your life and I will give you mine.
