The Rabbit Hole: Conspiracy Theories

In 1587, more than 100 English colonists settled on Roanoke Island in what is now North Carolina. When John White returned three years later, the settlement was abandoned. There were no bodies and no obvious signs of a struggle—only one haunting clue: the word “CROATOAN” carved into a post.

So what happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke?

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Harini Bhat, host of Hidden History, to go down the rabbit hole of one of America’s oldest and most enduring mysteries. We break down what we actually know about the disappearance, the significance of the Croatoan clue, and the theories that have attempted to explain where the colonists went.
