Charles V. De Vet made his debut on the podcast just about a week ago. It’s not uncommon for us to feature another story from a new author soon after their first appearance, especially when I finish that first story wanting to read more. That’s exactly what happened with De Vet. I enjoyed his writing so much that I couldn’t wait to bring you another of his thought-provoking science fiction stories.

There are some authors whose stories seem to get better every time I revisit them, and Randall Garrett is definitely one of those. The more of his work I narrate, the more I appreciate his knack for blending clever ideas, sharp dialogue, and just the right amount of humor into unforgettable science fiction.

I’m not going to spoil it but there is humor near the end that goes by fast and it took a few takes to narrate it without laughing.

Born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1907, Francis Bertram Bryning makes his first appearance on The Lost Sci-Fi Podcast today. He published 19 science fiction stories during the 1950s before stepping away from publishing, then surprised readers by returning decades later with another ten stories published across the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s.
