TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Romans 8:16–17
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We sit with Romans 8:16–17 and let the Holy Spirit’s witness sink in: we truly are God’s children and fellow heirs with Christ. We also face the hard truth that suffering with Jesus is part of the path to being glorified with him, and we pray for endurance and hope.
• reading Romans 8:16–17 as an evening mindset meditation
• the Spirit confirming our adoption as God’s children
• inheriting God’s riches and eternal glory with Christ
• suffering with Jesus as part of Christian discipleship
• abiding, resting, and receiving strength in trials
• seeing perseverance as one way the Spirit reassures us
• looking ahead to glory and inheritance before the Father

TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 3:6
…but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We center our evening meditation on Hebrews 3:6 and the image of God’s household, where belonging is defined by trust in Jesus rather than a street address or a set of achievements. We unpack what it means to hold fast to confidence and hope, and we close by asking the Holy Spirit to help us endure.
• Hebrews 3:6 as a simple evening mindset anchor
• “House” as people and belonging rather than a building
• Jesus as the faithful Son over God’s household
• Holding fast as ongoing trust in Christ’s finished work
• Why the passage is not teaching works-based salvation
• “Boasting in our hope” as gratitude and durable confidence
• Prayer for the Spirit’s help to remain confident

2026/10/02 | 4 mins.Send Carey a note (sorry, replies are not possible at this time)
TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 2:14–15
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, [15] and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We read Hebrews 2:14–15 and trace why Jesus takes on flesh and blood to break death’s power. We land on the hope that his indestructible life frees us from fear and gives us a future we do not have to dread.
• reading Hebrews 2:14–15 and naming its claim about death and the devil
• explaining why Jesus must become truly human to take our place
• describing Jesus as the destroyer of Satan’s power over our destiny
• describing Jesus as the deliverer from fear of death and lifelong slavery
• thanking Jesus for using death to defeat death and sharing his life with us

TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 2:1
Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. (ESV)
SUMMARY
We slow down with Hebrews 2:1 and name the quiet danger of spiritual drift that happens when we stop paying close attention to Jesus. We end the day by resting in God’s grace, trusting that Jesus cleanses us, and asking for strength to resist old beliefs and old patterns.
• reading Hebrews 2:1 as an evening focus
• picturing drift through the boat and oars image
• choosing consistent attention over spiritual autopilot
• remembering the original audience and the pull back to ritual
• leaning on Jesus for cleansing rather than self-effort
• praying for strength to resist returning to former ways

2026/09/30 | 4 mins.Send Carey a note (sorry, replies are not possible at this time)
TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 143:10
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground! (ESV)
SUMMARY
We anchor our evening mindset meditation in Psalm 143:10 and sit with a simple prayer that asks God to teach us his will and lead us by his good Spirit. We press on the personal words “you are my God” and ask whether our hearts are truly willing, in big callings and small acts of love.
• meditating on Psalm 143:10 as an evening prayer
• asking God to teach us to do his will with a willing heart
• noticing the personal trust inside “you are my God”
• exploring obedience in both major life changes and everyday neighborly kindness
• picturing the Holy Spirit leading us on “level ground” through hard and easy circumstances
• building a bedtime prayer habit that fits different personalities and needs
Begin praying them as you lay your head down and prepare for rest.
