If I Had to Start My Detailing Business Over, I'd Buy These 6 Things First

    2026/07/22 | 25 mins.
What are the best detailing tools to buy if you're starting from scratch?
If I had to rebuild my detailing business today, these are the six tools I'd purchase before anything else. After more than 20 years in the auto detailing industry, I've learned that having the right tools matters far more than having the most tools.
In this video, I break down the essential detailing equipment that has had the biggest impact on the quality of my work, the speed of my workflow, and the overall enjoyment of detailing. From a deionized water system and pressure washer to a foam cannon, Tornador-style air tool, quality microfiber towels, and a simple chemical system, these are the products I genuinely couldn't live without.
Whether you're a beginner looking to build your first detailing setup or an experienced detailer trying to simplify your garage, this video will help you spend your money on the upgrades that make the biggest difference.
    In this video:
Why deionized (DI) water is my #1 detailing upgrade
Why every detailer should own a pressure washer
How a foam cannon makes washing safer and easier
Why Tornador-style air tools are a game changer for interiors
The importance of investing in quality microfiber towels
Why a simple chemical system beats having dozens of products
If you enjoy real-world detailing tests, honest product reviews, detailing tips, and educational content, be sure to subscribe for new videos every week.

Why Simple Detailing Products Feel So Confusing

    2026/07/08 | 19 mins.
The detailing industry has a directions problem.
A lot of products are not actually that hard to use, but the directions, product names, dilution ratios, and marketing make them way more confusing than they need to be.
In this episode, I talk about why simple products like spray waxes, ceramic sprays, drying aids, rinse-off protection products, coatings, and polishes can become confusing for the average customer.
If a product is supposed to be quick and easy, learning how to use it should also be quick and easy.
I also talk about why vague instructions lead to inconsistent results, why calling the manufacturer is not a real solution for most customers, and why brands need to do a better job explaining exactly when, where, and how their products should be used.
Because most customers are not asking for more buzzwords.
    They're asking:
Can I use this in the sun? Can I use it every wash? Do I spray it on wet or dry? Do I rinse it off or wipe it off? Can I use it before a coating? Will I overload the paint? What dilution should I actually use?
Detailing does not need to be as confusing as the industry has made it.

What the Detailing Industry Got Wrong About Wax

    2026/06/24 | 25 mins.
Wax is not dead. The detailing industry just got it wrong.
For years, brands tried to evolve car wax by making it last longer, act more like a ceramic coating, or compete with ceramic sprays. But I think they missed the real point.
People still love waxing their cars.
    They love the gloss.
    They love the slickness.
    They love the water beading.
They love the feeling of protecting their car after a wash.
The problem is wax became too much work.
In this episode of the Auto Detailing Podcast, I talk about what I think the detailing industry got wrong about wax, why simplicity matters, and why wax did not need to disappear — it needed to evolve.
Wax does not have to last forever to matter.
It just has to be easy enough that people actually use it.
That is the idea behind Wax 'N Relax.
It is not trying to be a five-year ceramic coating. It is not trying to replace Tough As Shell or The Gloss Boss. It is simply the fastest, easiest way to add gloss, slickness, water beading, and protection after a wash.
If you have a car, truck, RV, boat, work vehicle, or daily driver that you want to protect without overthinking it, this is the conversation for you.

How To Wash, Clay & Protect Your Car In Direct Sun

    2026/06/17 | 15 mins.
Most people think you can't wash a car in direct sunlight without causing water spots, streaks, or frustration.
    That used to be true.
In this video, I show you how to wash, clay, and protect your vehicle outside in direct sun using a modern process that takes about 20 minutes from start to finish.
We'll foam a dry vehicle, perform a pre-soak, clay the paint using a clay towel, apply protection using Wax N Relax, and dry the vehicle—all without needing a garage, canopy, or perfect weather.
This is the same process I use to make detailing faster, easier, and more enjoyable while still achieving amazing results.

You Really Only Need 7 Products To Fully Detail A Car

    2026/06/10 | 34 mins.
Detailing has gotten way too complicated.
A lot of people think they need 25 or 30 different products just to properly detail one car. Wheel cleaner, tire cleaner, bug remover, foam soap, contact wash soap, drying aid, glass cleaner, trim dressing, interior cleaner, leather cleaner, polish, ceramic spray, water spot remover, and the list keeps going.
But do you really need all of that?
In this podcast-style video, I break down the 7 products I would use to fully detail most cars. This includes washing, heavy cleaning, decontamination, polishing, protection, interior cleaning, tires, trim, and final finishing.
The goal is not to say specialty products are useless. They absolutely have their place. But most people do not need every specialty product every single time. Most people need a better system.
    The 7 products:
The Super Soaper — safe washing, pre-soaking, foaming, and contact washing
Pure Magic Cleaner — wheels, tires, grime, lower panels, and hard water spot help
Clay bar or clay mitt — bonded contamination removal
Picture Perfect Polish — gloss, clarity, and paint enhancement
Tough As Shell — ceramic spray protection
Complete Cabin Cleaner — interior cleaning
All Dressed Up — tires, trim, rubber, plastics, and final finish
