Biography:
Joss is a multi-genre DJ and producer based in Cape Town, South Africa. Born in Joburg,
Joss was inspired by the local scenes of both cities, and cut his teeth in the Cape Town
underground. He quickly became a regular in Cape Town’s scene, earning him call-ups to
the likes of Killer Robot, Vault, Co-Op, Club Nights and Xylem at Møodular. Joss’s sound varies between deeper and more hypnotic shades of house and techno, and many in-betweens.

Authenticity and expression is always the focus. Joss has also co-founded successful events series Mork and Score, a channel where not only he can express himself as a selector, but as a tastemaker of the underground.

From a production perspective, Joss similarly focuses on deeper, alternative sounds, having
released on the dub labels SpcLnch and Greyscale. On the Techno side, Joss is quickly
becoming a recognizable contributor in the scene. His techno release catalogue stands several EPs wide, having released on Kova, Edit Select, Cathartic Resonance and with some exciting releases coming up with Duplicity, Ket Robinson Records and Edit Select this year. Regardless of direction, Joss consistently outputs music for the body, and equally the mind. Comfortable on dancefloors or for more intrinsic listening.

[PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB] proudly presents its 114th catalogue release: TRC2 — Burgeoning Expanse EP.

In Cardiff, a transmission was picked up from a sea that appears on no map. The announcer listed unknown shores, reported tide times, and asked ships not to rush their arrival. Then the voice vanished. The forecast continued as music. At the controls is TRC2 (@teearseetoo), an electronic musician from Cardiff, Wales. His Burgeoning Expanse EP comprises four original works and five remixes. Nine entries in the log of the night’s broadcasts, each successive signal arriving from a more distant shore. Burgeoning Expanse is a vastness that reveals itself as the journey unfolds. This sea has no map: a new route emerges whenever an echo chooses a different way back.

Four original works:
:::Burgeoning Expanse 1 — a radio check. The lighthouse answers, although its keeper went home long ago.
:::Burgeoning Expanse 2 — in the second part, the harbour lights lose their definition, and the ship’s clocks begin keeping time with the currents.
:::Burgeoning Expanse 3 — the third leaves the last landmarks astern.
:::Burgeoning Expanse 4 — the fourth is already broadcasting from the very place the transmission was supposed to be sent to. Someone is clearly listening from beyond the horizon.

Five guest artists make contact from their own stations:
:::Jonah van der Hout (@jonahvanderhout) receives the fourth part and charts his own course. In his version, a familiar call sign acquires a different seafaring history.
:::Oldschool_Dubtechno .Producer (@enercube & @x_fr) switch the third part to celestial navigation: Systema Solare RMX. The sun becomes the centre of the route, the planets fellow vessels sailing alongside. The officer on watch asks everyone to stop referring to orbits as ripples on the water.
:::nexus6 (@daniel-sanchez-540213511) intercepts the fourth transmission. For a moment, a question hangs in the radio room: is there a human on the other end, or a flawless replica?
:::BLOMAQ (@blomaq) receives the same signal but enters new coordinates in the log.
:::Hidden Encampment (@hidden-encampment) sets up a secret anchorage within the first part. His dub remix leaves the echoes on watch by the water. Time to put out the lights: no one is looking for us here.

Towards dawn, the radio operator switched off the equipment, but the receiver’s needle kept moving. A forecast came through the speaker: fog, light winds, a chance of return. The last item was repeated twice. The operator walked to the window and saw the lights of a ship decommissioned forty years ago out on the water. Someone on deck raised a hand in greeting. According to the log, the ship had been expected. Stay on our frequency — there are still many uncharted seas ahead.
