On Friar, An NBC 7 Padres Podcast

The Padres won 91 games and made it to the NLDS. The first half of the year that would have felt like an enormous success. And maybe it was! But after an exhilarating last couple months - it once again feels like there was more left out there for the Padres to achieve. Derek and Darnay put a bow on the 2026 season.

Manny Machado getting robbed of a game-tying home run was symbolic of a series in which the Padres always seemed to be so, so close. A fun last couple months comes to an unsatisfying end at the hands of the Brewers.

That. Was. Stressful. The Padres didn't have Mason Miller or Adrian Morejon, but they managed to scrape away a high stress 4-3 win in Game 3. Jake Cronenworth had his biggest swing in four years, and Michael King got six outs to seal the deal. Darnay and Todd relive a nailbiter.

The Padres return home with elimination at their doorstep. Once again San Diego had the lead and the ball in the hands of a stud reliever. Once again the Brewers stunned the Padres, to take a 2-0 lead in the NLDS. Mason Miller was asked to do a lot, and did not deliver. Craig Stammen made a decision at catcher that backfired. And the lineup continues to leave a ton of meat on the bone. Can a resilient team bounce back?
