Mohamed Farid Alsendiony, also spelled Mohammad Farid Al-Sendiuni, was an Egyptian Quran reciter from the village of Sendion in Al‑Qalyubia Governorate. Born in 1912, he memorized the entire Qur’an at a traditional maktab before moving to Cairo, where he became known for his skillful recitation style rooted in the first generation of the modern Egyptian school.
Alsendiony served as a prominent qari on Egypt Radio and later held a position at Palestine Radio, where he recited for nearly a decade, also traveling to countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Kuwait. His voice was admired for its rich tone, clear Tajwīd, and emotive expression, characteristics that helped establish his reputation across the Arab world.
He continued his radio work in Egypt before retiring and opening a gathering space where he recited the Qur’an publicly. Mohamed Farid Alsendiony passed away on August 25, 1955, leaving behind a legacy as one of the leading qaris of his time whose recordings continue to be treasured.
