My mom's reaction to finding out I was getting high as a kid. The love story between my parents that involved a 9-year separation, exchanged letters, and governors asking for her hand in marriage. What growing up in poverty in Nigeria taught them about adulthood — and why my 30 looks nothing like theirs did. How parenting in America forced them to make sacrifices they didn't see coming. And the question every African parent eventually circles back to... you already know.

At 29 years old, I was diagnosed with ADHD.

As a high-achieving Black woman, entrepreneur, and Christian, ADHD was never something I thought applied to me. I did well in school. I built a business. I was “fine.” But behind the scenes, I struggled with focus, organization, finishing projects, and constantly feeling like I just wasn’t living up to my full potential.
