Faithless Brewing MTG: Modern and Pioneer for the Spike Rogue

Season 26, Episode 12: Brewer's Guide to Reality Fracture in Standard, Pioneer, and Modern (Part 2 of 2)

The hits keep coming in Reality Fracture. In the second installment of our 4+ hour Set Review, David and Dan look at Darklight Phoenix, Kasmina Twin combo, and a parade of nasty planeswalkers. Which Chandra will reign supreme? What is the biggest Jace? Which random uncommon is a build-around sleeper?

David also sneaks in a few Pioneer brews he's been toying with, featuring Beorn the Fierce, the Sackville-Bagginses, and a warp-heavy take on Neoform.

Check out our extended show notes (available via Patreon) for a written review of every card that matters, including the many that didn't make it on air. Happy brewing!

Season 26, Episode 11: Brewer's Guide to Reality Fracture in Standard, Pioneer, and Modern

Listeners of Faithless Brewing will be no stranger to the idea that looting is better than drawing. Zone advantage is king. The graveyard is pure profit, while cards drawn simply languish in hand until you are forced to *shudder* spend mana to cast them. No sir, no thank you.

Surveilling is also better than drawing, in all the ways that matter. Namely, it's much cheaper, and efficiency is king. Cavedan has always seen this truth plainly, while David still clings to his aniquated notion that cards should move from library to hand. Reality Fracture and the Empower Jace mechanic will let us settle this debate once and for all. Would you rather draw a card once, or surveil multiple times? To Cavedan, the choice is clear as day. It's the same reason why Starbreach Whale is a multi-format all star while Quantum Riddler is a bulk common. That's just basic brewing common sense.

There's plenty more to hash out in part 1 of our Reality Fracture Set Review. Let's dig in!

Season 26, Episode 08: Brewer's Guide to Marvel Superheroes in Standard & Pioneer

Cavedan's Year of Icetill Explorer all came down to a pair of Standard RCs, where he experienced soaring heights, crushing lows, and qualified for the Pro Tour until he didn't. While sorting through the wreckage, Marvel Superheroes has released, which means a whole new sandbox of toys to play with. David has decklists in Pioneer, while Cavedan took a more restrained approach to the impactful cards in Standard.
