Today we will read King Nebuchadnezzar's incredible witness statement to people and nations from every language about wonders and signs that God did for him. His letter told about how God sent him a dream telling him that he would be given the mind of an animal for 7 years and then he would proclaim God's greatness and receive his kingdom back, which is exactly what happened! Nebuchadnezzar wrote down in detail the dream God sent him, Daniel's interpretation of it, as well it's fulfillment. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of being God's witnesses and sharing with others our testimonies when we experience incredible things God does for us and through us. It is so important to share these testimonies and witness statements with others so that they may be encouraged to have faith in our great God. I have a friend, Julie, who has designed a box for recording and preserving these events to serve as witness statements, much like King Nebuchadnezzar's witness statement was preserved for countless generations in the Book of Daniel. God preserved his witness statement and He will preserve yours, as well. I encourage you to either make your own box of witness accounts or purchase a ready-made one from Julie. We will cover chapters 40, 41, 42, 43:11, 44: 1-2, and 47:1-12. Today we will read about a vision that Ezekiel was given of meeting with Jesus as He measured out the new worship house that the people would build. Jesus instructed Ezekiel to "Look with your eyes; hear with your ears; think about what I am going to show you. Tell the people of Israel everything you see here." The rest of the book of Ezekiel describes this vision of what Jesus and God showed and told him to write down for us to read. In our discussion for daily application today we will talk about US having ears to hear, eyes to see, thinking about what we see and hear, and then obeying what Jesus and God tell us to do, the same way we see that Ezekiel was faithful to do all everything he was told and obeyed. Today we will read about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refusing to worship the fake god that King Nebuchadnezzar set up. The punishment for failing to do so was to be thrown into a fiery oven. We will read about the king giving the 3 friends a second chance to worship the idol, declaring that no god could save them from the fate of the oven and see the dedication to their faith in God as they told the king that God was indeed capable of saving them, but even if God chose not to they would not choose to worship the false idol. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how NOTHING is impossible for our wonderful, all powerful God. Even the king of Babylon declared that no other god was capable of doing what The Most High God could do after he saw a fourth figure in the flames with the 3 friends, protecting them. May we all be encouraged to take EVERYTHING to our God, knowing that NOTHING is impossible for Him to do! We will also read Ezekiel 36:20-23 in our discussion time. Today we will read about God's people listening to Ezekiel's words, as though he were an entertainer, and professing to love and obey God with their lips, but in their hearts they were disobeying God and obtaining material possessions through dishonesty. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about Ezekiel 36:20-23 where God tells us that the people were speaking poorly about God while in their exile and for the sake of HIS NAME He would sanctify His Great Name by making the people clean, giving the people a new heart, putting his Spirit within them, causing the people to walk in His laws so they would keep His rulings and live in the land. We will talk about the importance of the fact that we need to make God the most important one in our lives. He knows our hearts. He knows if we are simply talking the talk without walking the walk. It is important to be transformed by a renewing of our minds, take hold of every thought and be sure that we are worshipping God with our hearts and not just our mouths, the way we have been seeing the people do yesterday and today. Ask God to search your heart, the way that David did in Psalm 139:23-24: Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Today we will read about Ishmael of Ammon killing Gedaliah and the Jewish people with him as well as the Babylonian people who were there with Gedaliah. We will read about Johanan and the other people with him desiring to flee to Egypt but first asking Jeremiah what God would tell them to do. After receiving a message of compassion from God assuring them that He was with them and would protect them, that they did not need to be afraid, the people refused to obey and went to Egypt out of fear. We will also read about a message that God instructed Jeremiah to give the Jewish people living in Egypt who were worshipping the false queen of heaven. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about worship of a false god, the queen of heaven, in today's society. We will also talk about God's great compassion and love for us and how we do not need to be afraid. Over and and over in the Bible we read the phrase, "Do not be afraid." God wants us to trust in Him and obey Him. By doing so we do not need to be afraid! He is always with us, loves us, takes care of us, and knows what we need before we even ask Him. As Jesus taught us, we need to seek God's kingdom first and everything else will be taken care of.
