We will discuss why it was important for Jesus to tell them ahead of time what was going to happen. Next we will learn about why it is important not to think that we are better than one another and learn how important it is to serve one another, especially other believers in our Spiritual Family. Lastly, we will read more about WHY Jesus came- to set people free from sin and look for people who have lost their way. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about using the the resources and gifts that God has given us to look out for one another, care for one another, and help further God's Kingdom by seeking those who are lost and showing them the way into our spiritual family. September 19 Daily Reading- Read the Bible in 1 Year

Who did Jesus die for? Why was it good for Him to die? And we will also talk some more about why we need to make Jesus and God the most important ones in our life. We will learn about the answers to these questions through the account of Jesus bringing Lazarus to physical life again and the resulting prophesy by the high priest that it would be better for one man to die for everyone than for everyone in the nation to die. As always, there was greater depth to this prophecy than he, or anyone else there, could have imagined. Jesus did in fact die (and he rose again) in order for ALL people to have the opportunity to be God's children! How about you? Do YOU believe?In our discussion for daily application we will continue to talk about the big picture of how all of what we are learning is coming into focus for the big plan for our lives. If we believe that Jesus does hold the key to eternal life and believe that God sent Him then we, as His disciples (students), need to obey and DO what He is teaching us. We need to make Him and God the most important ones in our lives. This means using the resources that God has given us to help further the Kingdom of God rather than spending on whatever we might like for our physical life. God promises that if we give up things and even relationships for our physical life to follow Jesus then we will be rewarded with much greater treasure in Heaven! Our focus in life should be on telling other people about the Good News of God's Kingdom (that the Kingdom of Heaven exists within us and that we are given the Holy Spirit when we believe), as well as being a witness of what God has done in our lives. We are to share with other people how we are learning to apply Jesus' teaching to our daily lives and what God is doing with that daily application- how it is changing our lives. Encouraging others to believe in and follow Jesus by becoming His disciples will fulfill the command to "go and make disciples of all nations." Jesus tells us that if we are truly His disciples we will do as He is teaching us. LET'S DO THIS!! God's value system is not the same as ours, as we have been learning. So what is important to US may not be considered important to God. Those who make themselves to be important will be brought down and those who know that God is more important will be exalted. In today's reading Jesus will encourage us to always pray and never give up. God never turns us away! And when we experience difficult times we need to be encouraged to look to God, because it may be that we are experiencing things in order to bring glory to God and Jesus, the way that Lazarus was allowed to die so that the disciples and others who were present would see Jesus bring him back to life and show God's great power. Let us be encouraged to always ask God to show us what good He is going to work into difficult or seemingly "bad" situations so that we might be able to tell others what God did for us. Jesus will teach us today that we need to not only be aware of God's ways, but follow God's ways because they lead to REAL life. With the time that we are here we need to use what God gives us to further His Kingdom. We will also learn that the Kingdom of God is not something we can LOOK for, it is INSIDE US and THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD'S KINGDOM! WE ARE GOD'S KINGDOM and we need to be using what resources God gives us for helping to add to its numbers as well as provide for those who have need. Using the resources that God gives us to do these things will show that we know how to handle what has been given to us so that God will give us more to manage which will allow us to further God's Kingdom even more! Failing to love God or follow God's loving ways or being selfish with what we have been given will result in a very uncomfortable after-life; rather than being welcomed into God's Heaven we will spend eternity in hell. This is what is meant when Jesus taught us that we will have chosen to "save our life only to lose it." Let us choose eternal life and build up our treasures in Heaven rather than be concerned about our earthly comfort, which is only temporary. Play the long game.
