Hosts Josh and Jamie and special returning guest critic and author Violet Lucca discuss a double feature inspired by her new book "David Cronenberg: Clinical Trials" with one of his earliest inspirations in sci-fi paperback cover artist turned experimental filmmaker Ed Emshwiller's RELATIVITY (1966) and one of Cronenberg's more unloved and forgotten passion projects, the psychological drama SPIDER (2002) starring Ralph Fiennes as a Freudian schizophrenic whose subjective mind provides Cronenberg with dreamy and depressed experimental form of the film.

365 - WHITE HUNTER BLACK HEART (1990) + A PERFECT WORLD (1993) ft. Eddie Averill
Hosts Josh and Jamie and special returning guest Eddie Averill (of Extended Clip) discuss the non-UNFORGIVEN entries in Clint Eastwood's self-reflective and self-implicating deconstructionist “too old for this shit” run of 1990s masterpieces: WHITE HUNTER BLACK HEART (1990) his personal, psychological and metafictional biographical portrait starring himself as John Huston during his time apparently becoming self-destructively obsessed with big game hunting while making THE AFRICAN QUEEN, and A PERFECT WORLD (1993) his sneakily complex, meditative and heart-wrenching criminal kidnapping/manhunt procedural meets buddy hangout road movie turned fathers-and-sons/justice system melodrama.

Welcome fellow SLEAZOIDS!!! Come along as hosts Josh Lewis and Jamie Miller (and, occasionally, guests) go down the rabbit hole of 20th century genre fare from the most influential canon classics to the the trashiest exploitation films we can get our hands on. Each week is a double feature—grindhouse style—where we discuss two films loosely related by subject, genre, actor, filmmaker or franchise and at the end of each episode, along with our HONORARY SLEAZOIDS (click on over to our patreon to become one), we decide on ratings and rankings for each film that's covered. Join us as together we work to uncover the best genre films of 20th century.
