Muhammad al-Mehysni also spelled Mohamed Al Mohisni or Muhammad Al-Mohaisany, is a prominent Quran reciter and Khatib (preacher) from Saudi Arabia.
He was born in 1965 in the region of Ben Salman Al Mohisni, or Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He memorized the Holy Quran at the age of 12. He is considered one of the older reciters, and was among the first reciters to have his voice recorded. He primarily recites in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration. Digital Quranic archives feature numerous recordings of his complete Quranic recitations and various individual surahs. His recitation style is well-known for its reverence, deep emotional impact, and his unique way of repeating Quranic verses, often leading to tears during his recitations.
Sheikh Muhammad al-Mehysni began serving as an Imam at the age of 15 in 1979 at the Riyadh Mosque. He later moved to Buraidah and has served as an Imam in various mosques before becoming the Imam of the Qatari mosque in Mecca, a position he has held since 2006. He has also been involved in teaching Quran and Tajweed and served as a leader in The Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice. His lectures and Khutbahs (sermons) are also widely known.
