Miss Me?

Look, relationships are complicated. Yes, we had a thing with the BBC, then we left the BBC, but we never stopped loving the BBC. Miquita and Jordan get into the implications for TV culture with this latest round of BBC cuts. They also talk about why reading is the most dangerous thing you can do right now, and share what it was like to help reveal the Booker Prize shortlist (Miquita) and be the new face of Dr. Marten’s alongside Chloë Sevigny (Jordan).

Miss Me? Is brought to you by Channel 4 - Watch Pierre on Channel 4 this October.

Is it a spark? Something to be wary of? Or simply science? Miquita and Jordan answer your questions about ‘chemistry’ in any way you felt like interpreting it. Is that feeling when you click with someone pure chemistry to be trusted, or something else? And will the periodic table even get a mention though?

There’s apologies, and then there’s apologies… Jordan and Miquita debate the politics around Ed Sheeran saying sorry on stage after his support acts left his Loop tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was previously removed from Ed’s line-up by US stadium owner Robert Kraft. There’s been a lot going on.

Meanwhile on Saturday night TV, Miquita considers the true meaning of Strictly with its new hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe, plus Jordan finds comedy in Rizzle Kicks being spoofed by SNL UK.

We really didn’t know where this one would go but thanks Miss Me? listeners, as ever the questions being asked on ‘eras of time’ are iconic. From whether the 90s really were the best, to whether calling everything an ‘era’ now has diluted the power of that word. Somewhere along the way Miquita and Jordan also end up in a debate over whether all celebrities can be called icons or if that’s reserved for the lofty artistic heights of just a few.

Next week we’re after your voice note questions on CHEMISTRY. If you want to take it to chemical equations that’s as valid as a deep dive into Ryan Gosling’s chemistry with Rachel McAdams on The Notebook, just as an example. WhatsApp us on ‘chemistry’ to https://wa.me/447849030711

NB: This episode was recorded before Ed Sheeran released this statement about Macklemore leaving his current tour https://www.instagram.com/p/DdT-6KGAtuI/?img_index=1
In the week that a US stadium owner had Macklemore removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour, Jordan (who’s known Ed for years) and Miquita get into the wider implications of that whole situation. They also talk through Sydney Sweeney’s pivot to advertising a sports betting firm, and whether sex really does sell everything. Plus they look at the latest plans to shake up what kids eat at school and how that compares with the school dinners they grew up with.
