Faisal Al Ghazzawi (also spelled Faisal Jameel Ghazzawi) is a Quran reciter from Saudi Arabia, born in Makkah in 1965.
He primarily recites in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration. Digital Qur’anic archives feature numerous recordings of his recitations, including a complete recitation of the Holy Quran and various individual surahs. His voice is often described by listeners as powerful, beautiful, and distinct, with strong prayers and a deeply moving delivery that contributes to a profoundly immersive spiritual experience.
Faisal Al Ghazzawi specialized in Quranic recitation at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, where he earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in the field. His academic research notably focused on Ibn Attiyah’s approach to recitations and its impact on interpretation, as well as aspects of Ibn Al-Mulqin’s work on mosques. He lectured at Umm Al-Qura University from 1989 to 2010, rising to the rank of associate professor.
He has served as an Imam in various mosques in Makkah since 1993, including Al-Huda Mosque. In 2007, he was appointed as an Imam at the Grand Mosque (Masjid Al Haram) in Makkah, where he also serves as a Khateeb (preacher) since 2016. He is also the current President of the Faculty of Quranic Recitation at Umm Al-Qura University.
