The engine fell off! Chuck Wentworth's 1981 Reno Emergency
Chuck Wentworth was one of the fastest Reno racers around. In 1981, he had a catastrophic failure that caused the engine to fall off his plane, which produced one of the most harrowing photos we've ever seen. Chuck has flown many other aircraft, and has even restored several aircraft that are now in the Smithsonian. We were extremely lucky to interview Chuck.Â
