The Shrewsbury Biscuit Podcast: Tristan M Copeland - What About Gary?
Today’s powerful episode comes from The Shrewsbury Coffee House, where Alex and Vick’s sit down with filmmaker Tristan M. Copeland to talk about his documentary What About Gary? The film tells the real story of Tristan’s cousin, Gary Matthews—a talented artist who tragically died of Covid after falling deep into anti-Covid conspiracy circles.Gary was a huge influence on Tristan growing up. As the pandemic progressed, Tristan watched in frustration as Gary’s social media posts became increasingly extreme. After Gary’s death, the story went public—and social media did what it does, fuelling a storm of rumours and misinformation that only deepened the pain for Gary’s grieving loved ones.Determined to set the record straight, Tristan spent months filming this documentary—speaking to friends, family, and even the conspiracy theorists Gary had aligned with. What About Gary? isn’t just about one man’s tragic end; it’s a moving portrait of Gary as a person, artist, cousin, and friend—and a reminder of the human stories behind the headlines.Follow the journey:Instagram: @whataboutgary_docWebsite: whataboutgary.co.ukHuge thanks to Tristan, Vick’s, and the brilliant staff at The Shrewsbury Coffee House for this one.Outro music: "What I Miss" by Josh Lobley

We also focus on the Female Focus support group too who are working hard to encourage a welcoming approach for women attending matches both home and away. Finally, we cannot do this and not speak to Shrewsbury Town CEO Liam Dooley who, accompanied by Nathan sits with Alex to discuss what running a club like Shrewsbury means both personally and professionally.Like everything that we do at The Biscuit, this is an organically presented chat with members of a club that has brought so much to our family. This was a privilege in itself. But it could not have happened without the help of Roger Groves, Pauline Newton, Liam Dooley and everyone who spoke to us on the day. So thank you all.Outro music: What I Miss by Josh Lobley

The Shrewsbury Biscuit Podcast: Shrewsbury Food Festival 2025
Welcome to the coverage of one of the best events in the Shropshire calendar, Shrewsbury Food Festival.Tune in as Alex takes his mic for a walk around the festival for the 2 days. Focussing mainly on chefs, food and businesses Alex manages to collect stunning interviews with the likes of Stuart Collins: Docket Restaurant, Christiaan De Vries: Great British Bake Off, Adam Purnell: Embers and The Caketoonist: Tat Effby plus many, many more. The Food Festival in Shrewsbury offers so much but one of the things we love so much about the event is that so many grass routes companies come together in one place to sell their wares. One-such was The Shropshire Scratching Company who, 6 weeks into their birth got absolutely ravaged by customers, selling out all of their stock. A great success story for these guys and the festival. It is always a joy to a part of this festival and words cannot describe the gratitude that us at The Shrewsbury Biscuit have for the whole team at Shropshire Festivals for always including us. Much love guys and here's to the next one!Outro Music: What I Miss by Josh Lobley

The Shrewsbury Biscuit Podcast: Freya Rickman - Cooper Green Pooks
While scrolling through social media, Alex stumbled upon some captivating content—side-by-side comparisons showing how Shrewsbury’s historic buildings once looked. Intrigued, he reached out to the creator behind the posts: Freya Rickman of Cooper Green Pooks, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest businesses.Freya’s passion for Shrewsbury—especially its rich history—is infectious, and the content she’s been producing lately truly deserves recognition. So, Alex invited Freya for a coffee and a chat at the Old Market Hall, right in the heart of town. And what better place to talk about history than a building that’s been standing since 1596?This conversation left Alex feeling genuinely inspired, especially by the energy and creativity of younger people engaging with local heritage in such meaningful, high-quality ways.A huge thank you to Cooper Green Pooks for lending us Freya, to the wonderful team at the Old Market Hall (especially Roberto) for being so welcoming, and of course to Freya—you're brilliant, keep doing what you do.Outro Music: What I Miss by Josh Lobley
